Las Piñas Mayor Nene Aguilar has directed Councilors Ruben Ramos and Henry Medina to facilitate the immediate relocation of more than 90 street vendors from the Poblacion public market in Barangay Daniel Fajardo to the newly-built 343 square-meter flea market in Barangay E. Aldana.
Aguilar said the street vendors are the subject of complaints by residents and motorists for occupying the sidewalks making the traffic heavier and putting the safety of the pedestrians in danger.
In a dialogue held at the mayors office, Aguilar asked the vendors to cooperate and support his campaign. He also explained to them the benefits of having a permanent and convenient place to conduct their business in the city.
Aguilar also explained that the construction of the flea market and livelihood centers inside the modern tricycle terminals constructed by the city government for the relocation of street vendors is part of his administrations Kaayusan sa Kalsada campaign.
The campaign is aimed at clearing all the sidewalks of illegal vendors, illegally parked vehicles and physical structures that contribute to the worsening traffic situation, Aguilar added.
