Man kills self after spat with girlfriend

After a lover’s quarrel, a 22-year-old man hanged himself inside his girlfriend’s boarding house in Tatalon, Quezon City Monday.

Victim Willy Labastion, a school janitor and a resident of 64 Kaliraya Street, Tatalon, was found hanging with a laundry wire tied around his neck. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the National Orthopedic Hospital.

Police said that Labastion was so emotionally devastated after a fight with his girlfriend that "it drove him to kill himself."

Reports showed that the two were seen screaming at each other inside her boarding house a few blocks away from the victim’s residence in Barangay Tatalon.

The girl reportedly left the victim and went upstairs to her room. Moments later, she was shocked to find Labastion’s body, the police said.

She asked her boarding mates for help and the victim was taken to the hospital where he died at around 10:30 p.m. – Matthew Estabillo
