It pays to be an outsanding cop.
For heeding President Arroyos call for "total war" against criminality, nine policemen from the National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) will be rewarded for their exemplary performance beyond the call of duty.
Newly designated Metro Manila police chief Deputy Director General Reynaldo Velasco will hand out medals to the nine outstanding policemen, two of them policewomen, during the flag-raising ceremony at the NCRPO headquarters at the former EIIB building along NIA Road in Quezon City today.
Velasco will pin the Medalya ng Kasanayan (PNP Efficiency medal) to SPO2 Jacobo Miranda, SPO1 Hector de Veyra, PO2s Michael Chavez, Raymond Avila and Roberto Trimor and PO1 Jeremias Aliggayu.
The six policemen were responsible for the successful arrest of two suspected car thieves and the recovery of at least three stolen vehicles during a sting operation on July 27 and 28 in Makati City and Quezon City. The raiders also confiscated a small quantity of illegal drugs and assorted devices used in stealing cars.
SPO4 Pruninie Maambong, PO3 Roberto Tumbagahon and PO2 Chona Gonzales will be awarded the Medalya ng Papuri (PNP Commendation Medal) for the apprehensions of three FX taxi robbery suspects at the corner of Aurora Blvd., and EDSA in Quezon City last July 30.
Velasco stressed that the acts of the nine cops have done the service proud and their accomplishments earned not only prestige for themselves, but also for the whole NCRPO.
He said deeds proved his belief that the country, especially the PNP, is not lacking in good men and women.
"Theres no such thing as small accomplishment in law enforcement if they are done in the service of the citizenry," he said. He described the nine cops as "true public servants and paradigms of integrity."
But while rewarding the outstanding cops, Velasco warned those who are abusing their authority that they will be dealt with accordingly. Non Alquitran
