Shabu lab informer cries foul

The informer in the neutralized shabu factories in Pasig City and San Juan cried foul yesterday over the awarding of over P800,000 by President Arroyo to the informer in the raided shabu laboratory in Quezon City.
The informer, identified only as Jedi, was at a loss why President Arroyo continues ignoring his plea for her intercession in his long-delayed reward money, while quick to give out the said reward to the Quezon City informer.
Last week, President Arroyo, in the presence of Philippine National Police chief Director General Hermogenes Ebdane Jr., and Senior Superintendent Nicasio Radovan, head of the Metro Manila Drug Enforcement Group (MMDEG), handed over the money to the Quezon City shabu lab informer in Malacañang. The face of the informer was covered by a hood to conceal his identity and apparently to prevent the Chinese drug syndicate behind the Quezon City shabu lab operations from harming him.
The MMDEG and the anti-trafficking division of the Narcotics Group (NarcGroup) confiscated some 44 kilos of shabu and millions of pesos worth of raw materials used in the manufacture of the illegal drugs in the clandestine shabu laboratory located in Loyola Heights, Quezon City last July 18. In less than a month, the informer received his reward.
Jedi led elements of the Regional Intelligence and Special Operations Office (RISOO) to the Pasig City makeshift laboratory in November last year which resulted in the arrest of eight people, five of them Chinese nationals. The raid also yielded some five kilos of shabu and raw materials worth millions of pesos.
In the San Juan raid early this year, the raiders arrested several Chinese nationals and confiscated raw materials and sophisticated shabu-making equipment. The San Juan shabu laboratory can manufacture at least 1,000 kilos of illegal drugs a month, Jedi said.
According to Jedi, his application for a reward for the Pasig City shabu lab raid was turned down by the National Drugs Enforcement and Prevention (NDEP) in Camp Crame on a mere technicality.
In the San Juan lab, NDEP offered him a mere P125,000 which was very low compared to Jedis computation of more than P5 million. Earlier, Jedi wrote President Arroyo a letter asking for her intervention in the injustice done him by the NDEP.
He said since he enlisted himself in the governments calls for the participation of the public in the war against illegal drugs, his life and that of his familys was exposed to daily danger. But he ignored the threats because of the governments promise of reward. Non Alquitran
