Mandaluyong cited as best police station

The Mandaluyong City police force has been given the Best City Police Station in the National Capital Region Award for the first semester of 2002 for its increased efficiency and the many accomplishments it had chalked up during the first six months of the year.

The award was handed by Philippine National Police chief Director General Hermogenes Ebdane to Mandaluyong City police chief Senior Superintendent Sukamo Ikbala in the presence of other police officials in ceremonies held in Quezon City.

The Mandaluyong police station bested its counterparts in Metro Manila because of its strong finish in the second quarter, having earned the Best City Police Station citation for the month of May and then again in June. Since it also rated highly in previous months, it became a strong contender for the award.

Mandaluyong Mayor Benhur Abalos Jr. hailed the police force’s outstanding performance and congratulated Ikbala and his men.

Abalos said a low crime rate and improved peace and order condition is good news for the city residents, specially the business sector. "This will translate to more investments, more jobs, more money for the city coffers and improved social services for our people."
