LP registry office gets new award

-
The Las Piñas City government has won another prestigious award when its civil registry office was cited by the National Statistics Office as the Best Performer in the National Capital Region and ranked third in the whole country.

NSO Administrator Civil Registrar General Carmelita Ericta cited the Las Piñas Civil Registry Office for its efficiency and outstanding performance in the delivery of civil registration programs, activities and services during the period January to December 2001.

Last Piñas bested the cities of Makati, Manila and Marikina in the NCR division and placed third in the extra large cities category next only to Butuan and Batangas Cities which landed first and second places respectively in the national level.

A consistent NSO awardee since 1995, the Civil Registry of Las Piñas was cited for its innovations and campaign to improve its services by providing quick and efficient processing of documents, particularly, the issuance of authenticated birth certificates and marriage license among others. It also set up an air-conditioned lounge for a more relaxed and convenient stay of the transacting public, with waiters who serve coffee and juice.

Last Piñas City Mayor Vergel "Nene" Aguilar lauded City Civil Registrar Luningning Aragon and her staff and urged them to pursue his administration’s campaign for a transparent and efficient governance.

"Again this is also an honor for the people of Las Piñas. And it should make us proud and inspired in our job as public servants," Aguilar said.
