QC student slain by rival gang man

Police arrested early yesterday morning in Quezon City a 23- year-old alleged gang member after he stabbed dead a college student who belonged to a rival group.

Rolly Fransisco, a second year college student, and a resident of Barangay Apolonio Samson, suffered a stab wound in the body and died at a nearby hospital.

The suspect, Noel Talla, of Barangay Baesa, sustained lacerations and is now in critical condition at the Quezon City General Hospital.

The police said Talla challenged the victim to a fight after a heated argument regarding their respective gangs. Investigators could not give the name of the two groups.

Francisco was having a chat with friends at about 12:30 am in a dark alley near his house when the suspect appeared with a bladed weapon.

Talla allegedly gave the victim the evil eye and a heated argument and a fist fight ensued. At one point, Talla took out his weapon and stabbed Fransisco in the left side of the abdomen.

Despite being wounded, the victim was able to grab Talla’s weapon and stabbed the latter in different parts of the body. The fight came to an end when the two collapsed on the ground. Fransisco was taken to the hospital where he died at about 4 am. –Matthew Estabillo
