Las Piñas City Mayor Vergel Nene Aguilar has directed city police chief Superintendent Armando Pineda to deploy more foot patrols and increase police visibility particularly in areas near schools and shopping malls to ensure the safety and security of city residents.
Barangay officials and tanods will also be mobilized to frequently patrol their areas of responsibility to maintain the peace and order in the entire city.
Aguilar also strengthened his anti-crime campaign by creating Task Force Kapayapaan involving all sectors in Las Piñas and the Police Quick Reaction Force which is a key component to crime prevention.
The Police Quick Reaction Force is composed of elite and well-trained policemen in anti-kidnapping, bomb disposal and even in hostage-taking situations.
He also ordered City Engineer Rose Bantog to regularly check all the streetlights in the citys main and secondary roads to discourage criminals from victimizing people in dark areas.
