Grenades found in Taguig school

-
Taguig Mayor Freddie Tiñga called for an investigation into the discovery of two fragmentation grenades with their pins and safety grips detached in the compound of the Taguig National High School in Barangay Lower Bicutan.

Investigation said the grenades were hurled inside the school as classes were suspended for the synchronized Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections last Monday.

"I have asked (Taguig police chief, Senior Superintendent) Rodolfo Sison to get to the bottom of things, if this was done to mar the recent elections. I am relieved that no one was hurt in this incident but I want its perpetrators arrested," Tiñga said.

Two students discovered the grenades in an alley between the Levi’s and Enrile buildings of the Taguig National High School at about 6:15 a.m. as classes resumed last Wednesday. Luckily, the students did not touch the grenades and instead reported the matter to security guard Joel Notoroyo who notified the police.

Classes were suspended for the day. After cordoning the area, police secured the grenades, both found without their pins and safety grips.

The Taguig National High School had not been intended for use during last Monday’s elections. Investigators surmised that the grenades were hurled to sow fear and disrupt the ongoing elections in nearby schools.
