Chico yields

-
A Manila police inspector implicated in an alleged bribery attempt to free suspected drug dealers in Baguio City last Sunday finally surfaced and denied the charges against him.

Police inspector Luis Chico of the Western Police District-Civil Disturbance Management Unit surrendered to Chief Inspector Marcelino Pedroso of the WPD-General Assignments Section on Tuesday night, reports said.

Chico denied allegations that he tried to bribe Baguio cops to free three drug suspects but maintained the persons he tried to help were his "assets."

Pedroso noted that Chico could not explain why he had "assets" when he is "not affiliated with the anti-narcotics unit."

Baguio cops said Chico offered them P200,000 in exchange for the release of drug suspect Marcelo de Juating Jr. and his two companions who were nabbed while in possession of 450 grams of shabu. – Cecille Suerte Felipe
