Binay earned his collegiate and graduate degrees at UP, a Bachelor of Arts, major in Political Science (1962); Bachelor of Laws (1967), Masters in Public Administration, major in Local Government Management and Diploma in Land Use Planning (School of Urban and Regional Planning-1993).
According to Eduardo Hernandez, awards committee chairman, Binays achievements attest to his being an exceptional and outstanding public servant of Makati, emphasizing service to the most disadvantaged and the least of his constituents. "He was able to restore to them their dignity and make them productive members of society, giving life to the ideals of the university of being men of value and not just men eking out a living," Hernandez said.
Binay was instrumental in turning Makati into the countrys premier global city with his strategic combination of visionary leadership and delicate balancing between the demands of the rich and the needs of the poor, he added.
Meanwhile, Binay also received a plaque of recognition from the National College of Public Administration and Governance (NCPAG) for his significant achievements in Public Administration during the NCPAG Grand Alumni Homecoming held recently.
"It is really a big honor and I thank the Board of Directors of the UP Alumni Association and NCPAG for recognizing my efforts. Likewise, I would like to express my gratitude and dedicate the awards to all of my constituents for their unwavering support and cooperation," Binay said.
