Baby hit by stray bullet in Navotas

A six-month-old baby boy is fighting for his life after he was hit by a stray bullet from a gun fired by a drunk trigger-happy man Sunday night in Navotas.

Jerome Buguilon has been reportedly given a slim chance to survive by attending physicians at the Tondo Medical Center.

He sustained a gunshot wound in the head as he lay asleep in his house in Tabing-dagat, Barangay Daang-hari.

Meanwhile, Mayor Toby Tiangco, who was informed of the incident, directed the local police to form a special team to hunt down Owel Roque, a resident of Goldrock, Barangay San Roque.

"Arrest and charge the victim’s attacker. We will not allow this kind of people to roam around and further inflict injury upon others," Tiangco said.

Initial reports said the suspect fled after the shooting and remains at large.

Investigation showed the suspect was fuming mad and arguing with one Ernesto Poblete, 42, for as yet unknown reasons near the victim’s house at around 5 p.m. when the former suddenly drew a pistol and shot at Poblete.

Poblete was able to dodge the first shot prompting the suspect to fire again. The shot still failed to hit the target but the bullet apparently hit the victim in the head, the report said.
