Six men rob money shop in Quezon City

-
Operatives of the Central Police District (CPD) are hunting the six male gunmen who carted away over P500,000 from a foreign currency exchange shop in Quezon City.

Records of the CPD-Central Intelligence Unit (CIU) disclosed that Cielito’s Money Changer located at 62-B Xavierville Avenue, Loyola Heights was robbed at around 4:30 p.m. Friday.

In a statement to the police, Mila Tan, 54, owner of the shop, related that one of the robbers, who posed as customer, entered the shop and asked her to change his US$1 bill.

Shortly after the first man left, three heavily armed men barged in and declared the heist. Immediately, the three suspects grabbed the cash box, and the bag of Tan, looting some P505,000 and a 3210 cellphone.

Witnesses recalled that three other men served as lookouts and the six suspects sped off on board a black Honda Civic (WTB 823) and a motorcycle with no plate.

Meanwhile, a housewife has logged a complaint against her domestic helper with the CPD-CIU for allegedly stealing her jewelry, expensive watches and cash. The suspect was identified as Belinda Baytiong.

Mary Louise Gan Estado, 43, of C-1 Cluster 2 Woodside Homes, Hemady Street in Barangay Kristong Hari, Quezon City told police that she lost a total of P1-million worth of accessories and P150,000 in cash between 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Estado said she left the house leaving Baytiong, of Angel’s Agency and resident of Murphy in Cubao, but when she returned home, she saw the master’s bedroom in disarray and her house help nowhere to be found. – Katherine Adraneda
