Fetus dumped in Senate toilet

-
The feared blood-letting in the Senate became a reality yesterday but it did not come from the warring senators.

Blood spilled in the chamber after a fetus dumped by a mother in a Senate comfort room toilet bowl was inadvertently flushed down by a janitress.

Gema Atalin, the janitress, said that she noticed blood on the toilet bowl of the comfort room on the sixth floor when she was about to clean it at around 1 p.m. Atalin said she did not see any person leaving the comfort room before she went in.

The sixth floor is the site of the offices of the Senate President, the Senate President Pro Tempore, the Majority Leader, and the Minority Leader.

Atalin said she thought what she saw was a mere bloodied waste matter so she decided to flush it down. When the blood became thicker after flushing the toilet, she flushed it over and over again until the water cleared.

She added that after the water cleared, the toilet bowl became clogged prompting her to call for help from the maintenance department. The maintenance men then retrieved a fist-sized bloodied bandage.

Onlookers said that based on the size of the bandage, the fetus could have been three months old. There was no flesh or small bones left.

The still shaken Atalin said the fetus could have been dissolved from the frequent flushing of the toilet bowl. – Efren Danao
