Big parties mark Makati anniversary

-
Stronger cooperation between the private and public sector marks the 332nd anniversary of Makati City tomorrow.

This year’s celebration of the city’s foundation is considered the grandest, with activities lined up for 12 straight days which started last May 24.

"The support we have gained this year for this celebration is a clear reflection of the new spirit of greater cooperation between the private sector and the city government in matters that will benefit the entire Makati citizenry," Mayor Jejomar Binay said.

For this year’s celebration, the city government tied up with Ayala Land Inc., San Miguel Corp., Makati Commercial Estates Association, Ayala Center Association, Rockwell Land and the offices of Makati Reps. Agapito "Butz" Aquino and Teodoro "Teddy Boy" Locsin Jr.

Some of the major highlights of Makati’s 332nd Foundation Day will be held today starting with the inauguration and blessing of the Pembo Multi-Purpose Hall, Magallanes Barangay Hall, a pedestrian overpass near Fort Bonifacio High School and the "Patubig sa Barangay Rizal."

The Ayala Center will also be holding a Midnight Madness Sale today with all of its malls in participation.

Simultaneously, a food festival will also be staged by members of the HRAP of Makati along Paseo de Roxas Avenue.

At 2:30 p.m., Mayor Binay and his wife, Dr. Elenita Binay, will lead the grand parade along Ayala Avenue with Vice Mayor Ernesto Mercado and city councilors.

The mayor will serve as the Grand Marshall of the parade which will feature delegations from the Manila Polo Club, Vintage Cars Association, Mad Dog Motorcycle Club, and members of the Makati Commercial Estates Association and Ayala Center Association. Television personalities from GMA 7, Viva TV and San Miguel Corp. will also participate in the parade on board their respective floats. Marvin Sy
