Police are hunting at least two unidentified armed men after they shot dead the other night a 15-year-old cigarette vendor in Barangay Commonwealth Quezon City.
Jeffrey Paguig, a resident of 82 Kasunduan Street, Barangay Commonwealth, sustained a bullet wound in the head and was pronounced dead on arrival at the East Avenue Medical Center.
The killers, described as two men in their early twenties, are notorious drug addicts, the police said. They fled after the shooting, taking with them the fatal weapon a homemade shotgun.
Reports said that Paguig might have been a member of a rival gang of the assailants, but police have yet to confirm it.
Investigation showed that the incident occurred at about 12 a.m. near the victims home in Kasunduan Extension in Barangay Commonwealth.
Paguig and his younger brother Jose were walking home after a night out with some friends when the gunmen suddenly appeared out of nowhere and blocked their path.
One of the killers pulled out a gun and without warning, shot Paguig in the right side of the head. The victim immediately collapsed on the ground as the killers fled the scene.
Paguig was rushed to the hospital where he expired at about 1 a.m. Operatives of the Central Police District are now conducting a follow-up investigation. Matthew Estabillo
