Guard kills driver over bad joke

Angered by a bad joke, a security guard shot dead a company driver yesterday morning in Parañaque City.
The victim was identified as Danilo Oliva, a resident of 2356 Bayview Drive, Barangay Tambo, Parañaque City.
According to PO2 Anthony Alising of the Parañaque City police Criminal Investigation Division, the incident took place at around 10:15 a.m. yesterday in the compound of the Astro-Shoe Company along Bayview Drive in Barangay Tambo.
Police said Oliva was having a friendly chat with security guard Lloyd Libanan before the incident. However, the discussion turned sour and tempers flared after Oliva made a bad joke about Libanan.
In the heat of the argument, Libanan drew his service firearm and shot Oliva in the right cheek before fleeing.
Oliva was taken to the Parañaque Community Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by attending doctors. Marvin Sy
