A British tourist lost hundreds of thousands in cash and jewelry to suspected Ativan Gang members Tuesday in Marikina City.
Orlig Duncan Palmer, 29, who was billeted at BayView Drive, Parañaque City, was still shocked and appeared dizzy when police investigators questioned them.
Initial investigation showed that Palmer went to Palawan for a three-day tour and sightseeing. After his trip, he decided to spend a day at the Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong City to take some rest. However, while at the hotel, an unidentified man approached him and offered assistance for his stay which Palmer gladly accepted.
"He gave me a glass of pineapple juice. When I took a sip of a small quantity of the juice, I lost my consciousness," Palmer told Superintendent Cipriano Querol Jr., Marikina City police chief.
The unidentified man allegedly took Palmers P10,000 cash, 20 British pounds, $600 travelers check, $400 cash, cameras, and clothes.
Palmer was later found slumped in an alley in Monterey Hills Subdivision I, Barangay Parang Marikina. A local resident brought him to the hospital where he later awakened. Non Alquitran
