Groom-to-be is robbery suspect

A man who allegedly needed cash badly for his coming wedding, is now being tracked down by the Manila police after he allegedly stole P100,000 worth of arcade video machine parts from a Binondo mall last Friday.

The police identified the suspect as Glicerio Lee, 24, a dismissed employee of the Kids Amusement 2000 Corporation located at the Juan Luna Plaza Mall in Binondo.

Investigation said Lee, a video machine repair man, was seen by witnesses last April 12 at about 7:45 a.m. inside the amusement center allegedly tinkering with several video game machines.

Witnesses told police that they did not find the suspect’s actions suspicious as they thought Lee was still connected with the firm.

Later at about 9:30 a.m., caretakers of the amusement arcade discovered the theft of three game boards after three game machines failed to start.

Further investigation showed that a day before the alleged theft happened, the suspect talked to Federico Cruz, an arcade machine repairman at the arcade.

Police said Lee allegedly confided to Cruz that he badly needed cash for his wedding. Investigators theorized that the suspect plans to sell the stolen components to other arcade operators. – Mike Frialde
