‘Probe Cinco killing anew’

A Manila judge was asked to order another investigation on the ambush slaying of Commission on Elections (Comelec) information officer Velma Cinco for the accused to be able to prove his innocence.

In a motion, the accused, Conrado Robles, asked Judge Reynaldo Alhambra of Regional Trial Court Branch 53 to direct Prosecutor Danilo Formoso to conduct a second preliminary investigation.

"There are still a number of newly surfacing matters. . . vital facts which could have been earlier overlooked and inadvertently missed in the filling of the case," Robles’ motion stated.

Robles was optimistic that the re-investigation might alter the original findings of the case and eventually establish his innocence of the crime. He maintained that he could not have participated in the killing because he was in Quezon province for the death anniversary of a relative. Cecille Suerte Felipe
