A 56-year-old vendor was shot dead in Barangay Commonwealth in Quezon City last Thursday after he allegedly went berserk and threatened his neighbors with a jungle bolo, the police said.
Fatality Nilo Mabini, a cigarette vendor, of 283 Kasunduan Extension, Barangay Commonwealth, sustained bullet wounds in the body and died on the spot
Police have yet to identify the gunman. But witnesses said it must have been one of Mabinis neighbors who reacted when the victim began running around with a jungle bolo, threatening everyone to a fight.
Reports showed that the incident took place at about 6:30 p.m. near the victims home in Marcos Road, Laurel Extension, Commonwealth, Quezon City.
Investigators said that Mabini suddenly pulled out a jungle bolo and ran amuck. He reportedly challenged everyone he met to a fight. As people began scampering to different directions, four gunshots were heard.
Mabini was hit twice on the chest and the left shoulder and collapsed to the ground. He died instantly. Responding policemen arrived at the scene but were unable to pinpoint who shot the fatality. Matthew Estabillo
