Boy drowns in Las Piñas pool

A summer outing of four teenage boys ended in tragedy yesterday after one of them drowned in a pool at the Las Piñas City sports center.

Police identified the fatality as Shier Bryan Palmaran, 16, of Jeremiah Street, Pilar Executive Village, Almanza, Las Piñas.

He was taken to the Alabang Medical Center but was pronounced dead on arrival by doctors.

Case investigator Police Officer 2 John Dale Sulit said the incident happened at around 8:30 a.m. at the Good Year Philippine Sports Center in Almanza. Palmaran’s friends told the police that they were resting in a hut after a swim when they noticed that the victim was missing.

They later found his submerged body lying on the pool’s floor. Lifeguards tried but failed to resuscitate Palmaran. – Nikko Dizon
