Power Image Caltex Service Station located at Camarin Road, Caloocan City North, near Villa Magdalena Subdivision, lost some P150,000 in cash to the robbers, the police said.
Police said that at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, seven knife-wielding robbers appeared at the gas station, and at knife point held its personnel at bay while some of them emptied the cashiers drawer of cash and fled on foot in different directions.
The immediate arrival of the police, led by SPO3 Jose Olner and PO2 Joselito delos Reyes, and Mobile car 106, resulted in the arrest of two of the suspects identified as Richard Estrella, 30, and one Benjie, a minor, both of Phase 4, Lot 5, Block 3, Barangay 176, Bagong Silang, Caloocan City.
Police seized from the suspects two bladed weapons allegedly used in robbing the gasoline station.
A crack team was formed to hunt down the remaining suspects who reportedly made good their escape with the more than P150,000.
Meanwhile, a security guard was shot dead Saturday night by unidentified hold-up men who thought the victim would attempt to foil their jeepney heist in Pasay City.
Police records identified the victim as Renato Limpos of Bagnatan Street, Malabon City.
He sustained a gunshot wound in the face and was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physicians at the Pasay City General Hospital.
Investigation showed that the incident happened at around 6:15 p.m. beside the Equitable Bank on Taft Avenue.
A witness told the police that traffic was moving slowly along Taft Avenue when he saw what looked like a hold-up by four inside a passenger jeepney. Pete Laude and Nikko Dizon
