Elements of the Western Police District (WPD) will soon get "special bullets "with effects similar to the futuristic action movies featuring Hollywood stars.

Manila Mayor Lito Atienza said the city government will purchase the ammunition locally made and developed by Arambulo Manufacturing, a local ammunition maker headed by retired policeman Senior Inspector Arambulo.

Arambulo said he, himself, conducted the research and development work on the bullets. "The special bullets definitely has more stopping power than the conventional type of bullets. This would certainly enhance the capability of our law enforcers against criminal elements," the mayor added.

Atienza personally witnessed the live-fire ammunition testing held at the WPD Firing Range yesterday. He was accompanied by WPD director Chief Superintendent Nicolas Pasinos and other police officials.

First tested was the Multi-shock bullet, a multiple projectile cartridge, which delivers 10 slugs at a target with an effective range of seven to 10 meters, using a standard police issued caliber .38 revolver.

The actual test showed that a single bullet fired at a distance of seven meters delivered 10 slugs at a paper target. This type of bullet also comes in .25; .32; .380; .38 super; .38 special; .357 Magnum; .44 Magnum and .45 caliber. – Cecille Suerte Felipe
