Boy drowns in Cubao resort pool

-
A family’s summer vacation ended in tragedy after a six-year-old boy drowned the other day in a resort’s swimming pool in Cubao, Quezon City.

Victim Gabriel Santos, of 31 Datu Sumakwel St., Project 4, Quezon City, suffered heart and lung failure and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Quezon Memorial Medical Center.

Police said that the victim, his parents, and other relatives were having a summer outing at the Island Tropic resort when the accident happened.

Reports showed that Santos and his older relatives were having a swim in the pool when he was suddenly carried by one of his uncles into the deeper part of the water.

Elements of the Central Police District said that some of the other swimmers accidentally elbowed Santos in the head, which must have made him feel woozy and he sank into the water.

It took a long while for anybody to notice that the boy was drowning. The victim was not breathing when he was rescued by one of his relatives from the water.

He was rushed to the hospital where he expired at about 12:45 p.m. Investigators believe the whole thing was an accident, but they are investigating further to make sure there was no foul play.

Meanwhile, a butcher’s jealousy drove him to hack his live-in partner to death the other day in their rented home in Barangay Pasong Putik, Quezon City.

Victim Fe Ochia, 28, of Block 25, Lot 19, Villanueva St., Maligaya Park Subdivision, Barangay Pasong Putik, sustained hack wounds in the head and body and was found dead on the spot.

Her live-in partner Narcing Omana, a butcher, fled right after the killing and took with him the fatal weapon which police believe was a butcher knife.

Reports said that Omana was very angry after learning that Ochia was allegedly seeing other men. The incident occurred at about 4:20 p.m. Matthew Estabillo
