Munti malls adopt tight security

-
Upscale malls in Muntinlupa City are under heavy guard after the city police received a bomb threat late Friday night, a statement from the city government read yesterday.

Nevertheless, Muntinlupa police chief Superintendent Erasto Sanchez assured city residents as well as mall patrons that "the peace and order situation in the city is well under control."

A Muntinlupa official received a call threatening to bomb shopping malls in the city, the statement said. Bomb disposal teams were immediately dispatched to the Alabang Town Center, the Festival Supermall, and the Metropolis Starmall. No bombs were found.

Later, a complete set of bomb components was discovered in an overpass on EDSA in Pasay City Saturday morning, apparently one of the many that had been left by the little-known Indigenous People’s Federal State Army (IPFSA) in several key Metro Manila cities the past week. Nikko Dizon
