A 20-year-old construction worker was stabbed dead and his two brothers wounded after their drinking buddy went berserk and triggered a 20-man brawl the other night in Quezon City.
Adonis Barcena, 20, of 28 Simon Philcoa St., Himcayan Road, Pasong Tamo, sustained a stab wound in the chest and was pronounced dead on arrival at the East Avenue Medical Center.
His two brothers, Marvin, 21, and Joker, 25, also of the same address, suffered wounds in the body and are being treated at the same hospital.
The suspect, identified as Armando Torias, 25, a school bus driver, of 28 Sinampalukan St., Pasong Tamo, was also wounded and is also confined at the medical center.
Investigators said that Torias went berserk after getting drunk in a drinking spree with the Barcenas and other neighbors in front of his home in Pasong Tamo, Quezon City at about 6:30 p.m. Adonis may have insulted Torias and a heated argument ensued.
The suspect pulled out a knife and without warning, stabbed Adonis in the right chest. Adonis two older brothers intervened but Torias also attacked them.
This triggered a 20-man brawl as Torias neighbors clashed with the Barcenas friends. In the process, Torias was also stabbed and beaten-up. Responding policemen later arrived and everyone scampered in different directions to avoid arrest.
The wounded parties were rushed to the hospital where Adonis expired at about 7:10 p.m. Elements of the Central Police District are conducting follow-up investigation of the case.
Meanwhile, a Filipino-Chinese taxi operator was reportedly abducted in Binondo, Manila, last Saturday by 10 unidentified men.
According to police reports, Antonio Tiu, 39, was abducted at about 5:30 p.m. in front of the Diamond Tower along Masangkay Street in Binondo.
Tius wife Josephine, 33, told police that she and the victim were about to enter the building to visit a brother of the victim when the men appeared and dragged her husband to a white car with plate number TFY-770. She described the car as either a Mitsubishi Lancer or a Toyota Corolla.
Police investigator Eduardo Mabaet told reporters that prior to the incident, one of the suspects introduced himself as "Sergeant Buod" to one of the buildings security guards.
Police are investigating the incident as the family of the victim awaits word from his abductors. No ransom note has been received, police said. Mike Friald
