Drunk man hacks neighbor’s dog

A drunken man in Parañaque reportedly hacked his neighbor’s dog in frustration after the latter refused his challenge to a fight, the police said.

Edwin Macasel, 32, of Durian Street, Olivarez Compound, Phase 3, Parañaque, filed a complaint yesterday with the police after his neighbor Nikki Garay refused to attend barangay hearings.

According to Macasel, the incident happened last Feb. 6 at around 10:30 p.m.

He recalled that a heavily intoxicated Garay went amuck in their neighborhood.

Armed with a 12-inch knife, Garay reportedly banged on Macasel’s door and challenged him to a duel.

But Macasel said he ignored Garay and kept the door locked out of fear.

A frustrated Garay vented his anger on the former’s Japanese spitz, Lucy, who was tied outside near the door.

Garay hacked the dog in the head and then fled.

Macasel find a complaint against Garay, who reportedly does not have a permanent address, with barangay officials.

However, Garay went into hiding and never showed up in any of the hearings scheduled by barangay officials.

Senior Police Officer 2 Deo Carino said charges of challenge to a duel and malicious mischief could be filed against Garay.

Lucy, the dog, is now recuperating from her injury, her owner said. Nikko Dizon
