Brother stabs brother dead

-
A 15-year-old boy stabbed dead yesterday his 22-year—old brother, who had earlier stabbed an elder brother during a riotous episode in a family of 10 in Pasay City.

And it all came to this because the fatality would not wash the dishes quietly.

Oscar Lumanlan Jr. declared dead at the Pasay City General Hospital due to a stab wound in his left side inflicted by his younger brother Ronnie.

Lumanlan Jr. earlier in the week stabbed his 23-year-old brother, Basilio, with a broken bottle. Basilio, a jeepney terminal clerk, survived the attack but the incident appeared to have caused far greater damage in the relations of the eight Lumanlan children.

Based on the investigation of Senior Police Officer 1 Nonilone Francisco of the Pasay City police, at about 10 a.m. the father, Oscar Sr., ordered Oscar Jr. to wash the dishes. At the time, Ronnie was reportedly standing beside the victim chopping ingredients for a meal he was cooking.

But instead of obeying, Oscar Jr. reportedly murmured unpleasantries until Ronnie butted in. The victim, however, did not like his younger brother’s meddling and made the threat’ " Baka isunod kita sa Kuya (Basilio) mo (You might be next to your brother)."

Suddenly, Ronnie swung the knife in his hand into his elder brother’s side. The victim managed to move away and take a few steps out of the house but fell down.

Ronnie then fled and was yet to be arrested as of press time.

"Ang problema kasi kay
(Oscar) masyado syang barumbado (the problem with Junior was that he was so overbearing)," said Oscar Sr. who came to the police station to give a statement.

Asked if he wanted to file a charge against his 15-year-old son, Oscar Sr. was more resigned to it than willing.

"There is nothing we can do about it," said the father while heaving a sigh. SPO1 Francisco said that if the father would not file a case they will.

"Nestor (Ronnie’s other name) was very helpful with the family. I really do not know (what to do)," said Oscar Sr.

Oscar Sr. is a jeepney dispatcher, both his two daughters have married while only Basilio and Ronnie help him earn some money. The three other Lumanlan children are jobless, the two youngest sons still elementary pupils. — Jose Aravilla and Jerry Botial
