Fresnedi, Marquez offer rewards

The mayors of Muntinlupa and Parañaque cities have each offered a P100,000 cash reward for anyone who could give information leading to the arrest of the suspects in two separate recent crimes.

In Muntinlupa, Mayor Jaime Fresnedi announced the cash reward after one of his aides succumbed last Jan. 23 to a head injury he sustained from a grenade blast Monday night that instantly killed two sisters.

Noel Navarro, 38, of the Traffic Environment Discipline (TED) under the mayor’s office, died at the Muntinlupa Medical Center, said city Public Information Officer (PIO) Tess Valencia. Shrapnel was imbedded in Navarro’s brain after two unidentified men exploded a grenade in the public market at the Alabang viaduct in Muntinlupa.

Navarro, along with five other TED personnel and two police officers, were conducting an anti-vendor operation when the incident happened.

Authorities have eyed vendetta as a possible motive for the crime after the TED personnel confiscated pirated VCDs being sold in the area. The men who allegedly threw the grenade were said to be disgruntled vendors there.

In Parañaque, Mayor Joey Marquez offered the cash reward to anyone who could lead police to the whereabouts of a 24-year-old man suspected to have raped and killed a teenage student who was a boarder of his employer.

Police said Richard Lomocso, a houseboy, is the prime suspect in the rape and killing of Jayne Tayag, 18, last Dec. 2.

On the night of the crime, the victim went down to Lomocsos’ room to ask him to turn on the water system’s main valve so she could use the comfort room.

However, Tayag failed to return, prompting a search that led to the discovery of the gruesome crime.

This was the third time Marquez has offered a P100,000 cash reward to anyone who could help police solve a crime in the city.

Marquez first offered a bounty to anyone who could help authorities locate the bodies of abducted public relations man Bubby Dacer, a resident of Barangay Sun Valley, and his driver.

The mayor also offered a cash reward for the arrest of those who raped and killed Claudine Feliciano of Barangay BF Homes. – Nikko Dizon
