Professor killed in smash-up

A smash-up between a passenger jeepney and a cargo truck in San Andres, Manila yesterday morning left a college professor dead and at least 14 others injured.
Sketchy police reports identified the fatality as Josefina Eduarte, 43, a professor at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila.
Eduarte, who sustained severe injuries and her fellow injured jeepney passengers were rushed to the Ospital ng Maynila.
Initial investigation showed that Eduarte and the other passengers were abroad the San Andres-Taft jeepney driven by Romeo Sison stopped to turn to San Andres from Sergio Osmeña highway at about 9 a.m. when the accident happened.
According to reports, the jeepney had just barely turned to San Andres from the highway when it was hit from the rear by the speeding truck driven by Jonathan Magdaong. Mike Frialde
