1 killed in street fight

-
A 20-year old man was shot and seriously wounded after he was caught in a rumble between two street gangs in Tondo, Manila, the other night.

Manila police identified the victim as Richard Barcelona, of 2207-C. Molave St., Tondo, Manila. The victim was buying hamburgers at a stand along Batangas street at about 9:40 p.m. when suspected members of the "True Brown Style" gang and rival gang members clashed.

Police said members of the clashing groups immediately began hurling rocks and bottles at each other. Barcelona ducked for cover near a parked jeep but one member of the "TBS" gang, armed with a 9 mm pistol, saw him and opened fire hitting the victim in the chest and abdomen. Police said the TBS member could have mistaken Barcelona as a member of the rival group. Police said the gunman escaped after the incident.

Meanwhile, a 33-year old construction worker was killed after a bullet intended to finish off a wounded fruit vendor hit him instead in Novaliches, Quezon City Thursday.

Victim Jeorge Aguilar, of Block 23, Lot 47, Celina Homes, Caloocan City, sustained a gunshot wound in the chest and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Quezon City General Hospital.

Isidro Pagsulingan, 26, who was supposed to be the target by two fellow vendors, was also wounded. The suspects, identified only as Mario and Nigel, fled.

Reports showed that the incident took place at about 6 p.m. along Gen. Luis Avenue, Novaliches, Quezon City. Pagsulingan, his mother Purita, and the two suspects, were selling fruits to customers. At one point, Pagsulingan accused Mario and Nigel of "stealing his customers". A heated altercation ensued between the suspects and the Pagsulingans. — Mike Frialde and Matthew Estabillo
