Seized shabu of high grade, says PNP

The 57 kilos of shabu recovered in Pasay City and Manila over the weekend was pure and of the highest grade, police said yesterday.
This developed as the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation (BID) is conducting a background check on the ten undocumented Chinese nationals, who are behind the shipments of shabu seized in Pasay City, Manila and Zambales, to determine who among them have pending criminal records.
Officials of the crime laboratory of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Camp Crame reported to Narcotics Group (Narcgroup) chief Director Efren Fernandez that of all confiscated shabu forwarded to their office for testing, the drug haul in Pasay City and Manila was of the highest grade.
Narcgroup operatives are presently determining whether the 57 kilos of shabu was part of the two 500 kilos shabu shipments sneaked into the country by a Hong Kong triad, this month alone. Earlier, police said the 57 kilos of shabu seized in Pasay City was connected to the 344 kilos of shabu confiscated at a checkpoint in Zambales.
The PCCL informed me that after tests, the 57 kilos of shabu confiscated in Pasay and Manila are pure and of highest grade," said Fernandez. The PCCL claimed that majority of the shabu forwarded to them for testing where either of poor quality or adulterated. A kilo of high grade shabu can be made into four kilos by locally-based drug syndicates using proper ingredients, the PCCL said.
Because of the PCCL findings, Fernandez, theorized that the seized shabu could have just arrived in the country for distribution.
The Narcgroup and the Regional Intelligence and Special Operations Office (RISOO) are conducting continuous follow-up operations to get other members of the Hong Kong triad operating in the country, especially their Filipino associates, and the remaining shabu. Non Alquitran
