2 cop informers shot dead

-
Two police informants were gunned down by suspected members of an illegal drug syndicate inside a passenger jeepney in Mandaluyong City Tuesday afternoon.

SPO2 Jaime Masilang, case investigator, identified the victims as Teddy Muyco, 50, and his common-law wife Ofelia Ruiz, 40, an employee of the Mandaluyong Public Order and Safety (POS). They were residents of 641 Nueve de Pebrero St., Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong.

Muyco bore three gunshot wounds in the back of his head and one in the back of his body. Ruiz had a gunshot wound in the head.

Masilang adds that Muyco was driving the passenger jeepney (NVH 910) plying the Libertad-Kalentong route and had just turned towards San Clemente street from Vergara street when the two men pulled out their guns and shot dead the two victims from behind.

Some witnesses said the two men casually walked away from the scene towards Kalentong St. where they disappeared. However, the witnesses failed to say where the gunmen had boarded the victim’s jeepney. Police recovered four spent shells of a 9 mm pistol and a shell of a caliber .45 pistol inside the vehicle.

Probers said they are questioning POS personnel on the past assignments of the two police "assets" to identify their possible killers.

Some POS personnel said the couple were behind some police busts of suspected drug pushers in the city.

Meanwhile, a taxi driver was shot dead by two robbers the other night just as he was about to start his shift in Makati City.

PO2 Rey Juan of the Makati City police identified the victim as Teodoro Alano, 42, married, resident of 3854-B Bermejo St., Barangay Palanan, Makati City.

Based on the investigation, Alano had just left his home for his regular night shift at around 11 p.m. last Tuesday when the incident took place.

As he reached the corner of Bermejo and Dayap Streets, two unidentified men flagged him down.

As soon as he pulled over one of the men opened the passenger side door and fired a shot at his head.

The bullet went through the right temple of Alano and exited his left ear.

Both men fled right after shooting the victim. Alano was rushed to the St. Claire Medical Center where he died while undergoing an operation. – Non Alquitran and Marvin Sy
