Businesswoman, daughter robbed

-
A 53-year-old businesswoman and her 20-year-old daughter lost some P100,000 in assorted jewelry and P2,000 in cash to two car-riding robbers in Bacood, Sta. Mesa, Manila early yesterday morning.

Reports reaching the Theft and Robbery Section of the Western Police District identified the victims as Amelita dela Cruz and Jean Therese, a student of the University of the Philippines.

According to the victims, they were aboard their car and had just left their house at 3910 Biyaya St. at about 6:45 a.m. when their path was blocked by the two suspects who were onboard a silver gray 1995 model Toyota Corolla with plate number WMJ-804.

The victims said the suspects immediately got off their car, poked caliber .45 pistols at them and grabbed their bags containing their expensive cellular phones, assorted jewelry and cash.

After grabbing the victims’ cash and valuables, the suspects boarded their car and sped towards Mandaluyong City.

Police said the suspects could also be the ones behind the robberies victimizing a retired judge and a businessman in Sampaloc and Sta. Mesa, Manila early this month.

Victimized in the other two robberies were retired Manila Judge Antonio Brillantes, 66, and businessman Carlo Clemente. — Mike Frialde
