Man killed in Quiapo Islamic Center

-
A 34-year-old Muslim was shot dead by an unidentified man in Quiapo, Manila yesterday.

Police identified the victim as Theng Makacua, a native of Sensuat, Cotabato City. He suffered a gunshot wound in the body and died while being rushed to a nearby hospital.

Investigations said witnesses failed to identify the suspect, who escaped after the shooting at 11 a.m. on the corner of Elizondo and Globo de Oro streets in Quiapo.

Makacua’s wife Florida, 36, who had just arrived from Cotabato City, failed to see her husband alive. The couple was supposed to go home today.

Probers said they would coordinate with barangay officials to help track down the killer.

Meanwhile, mystery shrouds the death of a 67-year-old Chinese in the comfort room of a building in Binondo, Manila yesterday morning from six gunshot wounds.

Jimmy Go, owner of a construction firm and a resident of 117 Jose Abad Santos street, 6th Avenue, Caloocan City, suffered three gunshot wounds in the stomach, one in the neck, one in the chest and one in the right shoulder.

Go was killed at 10:30 a.m. yesterday on the third floor of the Manila Textile Building at 1002 C.M. Recto in Binondo, Manila.

SPO2 Edison Bartoldo said they recovered, beside the victim’s body, the caliber .38 revolver used in the killing.

Go arrived at the building at around 8:30 a.m. to meet Virgilio Manpor, general manager of the Virman Investigative Council Security and Manpower Agency to arrange security for his building, also located in Binondo.

Manpor told police that he and the victim had some coffee while talking about Go’s request for security. Later, Go complained of stomach pains and excused himself to go to the comfort room. While the victim was inside the restroom, six successive shots rang out.

When Manpor and his staff rushed to the comfort room, they saw the victim sprawled on the floor bleeding.

Probers are trying to determine whether the victim had been receiving death threats, prompting him to seek security. – Cecille Suerte Felipe
