Naked Swiss found dead in Ermita

Homicide investigators of the Western Police District are stumped over the death of a naked 40-year-old Swiss male who was found inside his hotel room in Ermita, Manila, yesterday morning.

Police reports identified the victim as Othmar Josef Bamert, of Tuggen, Switzerland, staying in Room 401 of the Juliano Hotel, located at 1171 Leon Guerrero St.

Senior Police Officer 2 Athos De Quiros said the victim was found lying on his back in bed by chambermaid Criselda Baguio at around 7 a.m. Baguio then called management who in turn sought police assistance.

Police said human blood was splattered on the victim’s hotel room toilet bowl. At least three grams of marijuana and five Mogadon tablets, were also found inside Bamert’s room.

Meanwhile, a taxi cab driver was electrocuted when he urinated on an electric post in Intramuros, Manila early Saturday morning.

According to investigator Senior Police Officer 1 Raul Olavarrio, the victim, Ramonito Yuson, 37, of Phase 4, Package 4, Block 11, Bagong Silang, Caloocan City, was urinating on the base of an electric post along Bonifacio Drive, Intramuros at about 4 a.m. when he accidentally touched a dangling live wire. – Mike Frialde
