NBI agents apprehend alleged swindler in QC

-
A businesswoman who allegedly swindled 28 people of some P14 million was arrested by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation over the weekend.

Arrested by agents of the NBI’s Special Action Unit was Vilma Tuazon, 28, and resident of Tondo, Manila.

According to an investigation by the NBI, the suspect would sweet-talk her victims into engaging in a joint business partnership such as buying and selling of appliances, cellular phones, jewelry and money lending.

The NBI said Tuazon would then work to get the confidence and trust of the prospective victim and would often impress him or her by discussing their supposed business venture in expensive hotel restaurants.

After reeling-in the trust and the cash of the victim, the suspect would then disappear, the NBI said.

One of her more recent victims, Gloria Aquino sought the assistance of the NBI, which tracked her down and conducted a surveillance operation.

Agents later located her at a drugstore in Kamuning, Quezon City where she was immediately arrested.

Tuazon is now detained at the NBI jail following the filing of estafa charges against her.

Meanwhile, a 45-year-old painter was jailed for allegedly trying to rape a 30-year-old neighbor who was taking a bath in Caloocan City Monday.

Police identified the suspect as Antonio Quizon, single, of 124 C. Name Street in Caloocan City. Neigbor Teresa Ramos, 30, single, positively identified Quizon as her attacker.

Police reports said at around six in the evening, while the victim was about to undress before taking a bath in a common bathroom, the suspect allegedly crept up the victim and tried to force himself on her. The victim’s mother reportedly came to her rescue. – Mike Frialde and Jerry Botial
