Lightning kills Navotas fisherman

A fisherman, walking home along the shore with three friends, died after being hit by a lightning bolt late Monday afternoon in Navotas.
Declared dead on arrival at the Tondo General Hospital was Alberto Subrino, 41, of 142 Gov. Pascual St. in Barangay Sipac. The victims three companions, identified only as "David, "Nonong," and "Boy," suffered only minor injuries.
Investigation showed the freak incident happened at around 4 p.m. as the victims were walking home after a days work. Witnesses told police, Subrino was thrown several meters away due to the power of the lightning bolt.
Meanwhile, a perennial loser in billiards, who allowed himself to get affected by his friends teasing, stabbed dead his tormentor after losing another billiards game last night in Navotas.
Police identified the suspect as Jose Manalos Jr. of Pescador St., Navotas, who fled the crime scene taking with him the fatal weapon.
No longer able to bear the constant humiliation at the hands of victim Nestor Navales, 38, single, Manalos stabbed the latter at around 8:30 Monday night in a neighborhood billiard parlor, investigation showed.
Navales died while being treated at the Tondo General Hospital. According to initial investigation, the suspect allegedly always took a severe beating everytime he played billiards with Manalos. Jerry Botial
