Give children Vitamin C, parents told

Rather than panic, the Makati Health Department (MHD) yesterday advised parents to make sure that their children eat fruits rich in Vitamin C, drink lots of liquids, and get enough sleep.
Clarifying media reports that the supposed flu outbreak has affected schools in Makati, the MHD issued a health advisory on the symptoms and causes of flu, how to prevent it, and how to care for a sick child.
In an emergency meeting held at the Makati High School last Oct. 4, City Health Officer Ma. Lourdes Salud requested school physicians, nurses and health workers from private and public schools, who were present, to assure parents that the cases of flu should not be cause for panic.
Salud said teams of city health workers dispatched the other day upon orders of Mayor Jejomar Binay, have reported nothing unusual about the few cases of flu in Makati schools.
