DOJ urged to handle kidnap raps vs NPD cops

Three Mindanao traders who linked two Northern Police District (NPD) intelligence officers and four policemen to their alleged abduction in Manila recently now want their case transferred to the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Maca-angcos Abdul Alawiya, Isagani Siacor Abdul and Zarah Angli Langco wrote National Capital Regional Police Office chief Edgar Galvante to refer to the DOJ their kidnapping for ransom case.

The traders, with three other complainants, charged Chief Inspector Michael Angelo Martin, Inspector Allanjing Medina, PO3 Arnold Asis, and POs2 Pedro Gutierrez, Nilo Ignacio de Paz and Antonio Berida Jr., all from the NPD intelligence unit, of kidnapping for ransom, car theft and robbery.

The alleged kidnapping reportedly occurred last Sept. 11 along United Nations Avenue in Manila. The victims were on board a blue Toyota sedan which was bumped from behind by the suspects’ car.

The victims said that when they went down to inspect the damage on their vehicle, the suspects drew their guns and ordered them to transfer cars. They claimed to have been detained in a house for several days, with the suspects demanding P3 million and two vehicles as ransom.

The victims said they paid P700,000 for their release. – Pete Laude
