Drug store robbed anew in Sampaloc

Robbers struck at a Mercury Drug Store branch in Sampaloc, Manila Sunday night, carting away at least P500,000 of the store’s earnings and valuables of the customers.

According to the police, it was the fourth time that robbers hit the said store this year.

Reports reaching the Western Police District theft and robbery section said that at about 10:45 p.m., eight armed men aboard a red Toyota Tamaraw FX van without license plates arrived at the drugstore located at the corner of Metrica and España streets.

Immediately, five of the suspects armed with handguns, barged into the store while their other three companions acted as lookouts outside the store door.

The suspects inside the store then announced the robbery and proceeded to disarm the security guards identified as William Gabia and Verlin Bautista of their service shotguns and .38 caliber revolvers.

After disarming the security guards, the suspects then went to the cashier’s booths and took the earnings from the cash registers, police investigators said. – Mike Frialde
