Mom stops rape suspect from leaving country

-
A fuming mother of a rape victim stopped yesterday a 19-year-old suspect from leaving for the United States to escape criminal prosecution.

Kershey Jimenez had already cleared himself for departure and was about to board his Northwest Airlines flight at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) when Angelie Capco, with airport policemen in tow, had him arrested.

The victim is the niece of Pateros Mayor Jose Capco.

Mrs. Capco sought the assistance of airport policemen to stop Jimenez from leaving the country after she got wind of the latter’s plan to flee the country.

The suspect surrendered to the police without resistance and was brought to Pateros by policemen who were waiting outside the NAIA.

Meanwhile, members of the Aviation Security Group (ASG) apprehended a 16-year-old female passenger bound for Cagayan de Oro City who was found in possession of 550 grams of shabu concealed in her panty girdle.

The ASG suspected that the girl was a courier of a drug syndicate. It also said that the suspect used an alias to hide her real identity. – Rey Arquiza
