Computers stolen from internet café

-
At least P300,000 worth of expensive computers were stolen from an internet café in Quiapo, Manila over the weekend, the police said.

Anna Katrina Ramos, 21, shop assistant of the Conective E-Business café, located at 528 J. Nepomuceno St. in Quiapo, said the robbery was discovered yesterday when she opened the shop.

Taken by the robbers were seven computer units with Pentium III processors, color computer monitors and various gadgets, police investigators said.

Ramos told police that she made sure that the computers were intact before closing shop Saturday evening. But when she opened the shop at about 6:30 a.m. yesterday, she was shocked to find the shop’s steel accordion doors forced open. She then informed the shop’s manager John Silverio of the theft.

According to a witness who was at the nearby bakery, she saw four suspicious looking men standing near the internet café before the robbery.

The men even bought cigarettes from her, the witness said.

The robbers, according to the witness, arrived aboard a blue car and a passenger jeepney marked "Aquino Family" and had a TRT-252 plate.

Police investigators are eyeing the involvement of the notorious "Bolt Cutter Gang" in the robbery after responding policemen recovered a crowbar at the crime scene. The crowbar, police said, is among the "favorite" equipment of the gang. – Mike Frialde
