MWSS exec denies raps
July 7, 2001 | 12:00am
A deputy administrator of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) Regulatory Office yesterday denied the allegations lodged against her by employees of the regulatory body.
In a statement, Elena Alojipan said that she decided to break her silence on charges of inefficiency, insubordination, and harassment because these are "unwarranted allegations being drummed up by Chief Regulator Rex Tantiongco through MWSS employees."
Alojipan also accused Tantiangco of destroying her integrity and independence, adding that "these terrible accusations" were false and that "truth shall prevail" in the end.
The deputy administrator’s decision to break her silence came shortly after employees of the MWSS Regulatory Office staged a protest rally, expressing their dissatisfaction over her and Deputy Administrator Virgilio Ocaya’s continued stay in their posts.
They denounced the two deputy administrators for beclouding "certain issues" by hurling unfounded charges against Tantiongco, who supposedly has the employee’s full support.
The employees also charged the two with malice for falsely informing the public that they are only being instigated by Tantiongco. – Matthew Estabillo
