1 killed, 4 injured in shootout

One person was killed while four others were wounded in a shootout yesterday in Parañaque City.
Southern Police District spokesperson Superintendent Ronald Sabug identified the fatality as Miguel Librea, 42, a squatter colony leader from Barangay San Dionisio, Parañaque City.
Based on the investigation by the police, Librea initiated the attack against three security guards of the Third Security Agency assigned to a vacant piece of property located at Canaynay Road in Barangay San Dionisio.
Witnesses claimed that Librea along with three other men fired at the three security guards who were with a member of the Parañaque Police, which resulted in a shootout that lasted for three minutes.
Librea was hit in the first round of firing between the two groups and died on the spot while the rest of his gang continued the shootout.
Injured were the three guards Joselito Sargue, 29 of Daang Hari, UPS 4, Marcelo Green Village; Gavino Tamano, 22, of Lot of 23, Block 9, Dollar St., Veraville, Pamplona, Las Piñas City and a certain Romeo Baladia.
The lone policeman on the scene was identified as Senior Inspector Ignacio, 31 of 2484 Victoria St., Southwind, Parañaque City who sustained a bullet wound in his abdomen. It was learned that prior to the incident, Ignacio reported to Precinct 2 of the Parañaque police that a group of armed men were getting ready to attack him and the guards. – Marvin Sy
