About 3,000 policemen will be deployed today around Rizal Park as the nation celebrates its 103rd Independence Day.
Western Police District acting director Superintendent Nicolas Pasinos said the WPD will also deploy 600 policemen around Malacañang following reports that militant groups threaten to stage protest actions today.
According to Pasinos, the policemen are composed of plainclothes intelligence officers, regular beat patrolmen and elements of the explosives and ordnance division.
Pasinos also said today’s Independence Day celebrations will be peaceful.
The WPD Traffic Enforcement Group said a traffic rerouting plan will take effect at 4 a.m. today until 6 p.m.
According to the traffic rerouting plan, all vehicles traveling northward along Roxas Boulevard shall turn right upon reaching President Quirino Avenue or Pedro Gil street, left Taft Avenue.
All public untility vehicles traveling along A. Mabini street shall turn right to Pedro Gil street or may either go straight and turn right to United Nations Avenue, left Taft Avenue.
All vehicles traveling southward coming from Delpan Bridge shall use A. Soriano St. (formerly Aduana St.), right to Magallanes Drive, right to P. Burgos St. to Taft Avenue to their destination in the south.
All south-bound vehicles coming from the MacArthur, Quezon and Jones Bridges are advised to take Taft Avenue.
Vehicles coming from Ayala Avenue will have to either take a left or right turn to Taft Avenue.
