Pasig gas station owner killer known to victim?

One of the three suspects in the slaying of a gasoline station owner in Pasig City last Monday appeared to be known to the victim, police said yesterday.

The victim, Virgilio Bordeos, 51, signaled the suspects to stop outside his office and was about to meet them when he was shot at close range, said Superintendent John Sosito, Pasig City police chief, quoting the victim’s children who saw the shooting.

Bordeos wife, Nora, 49, and their two children are scheduled to see Sosito today and give their statements which could eventually lead to the solution of the case.

Nora ruled out robbery as the motive behind the slaying of her husband. It appears, she said, that the suspects were after the attache case containing original ownership documents of four lots the family owned in Plaridel, Bulacan.

In a telephone conversation with Inspector Antonio Paulite, deputy chief of the criminal investigation division of the local police, Nora said Bordeos seldom visited the gasoline station in the morning.

At about 12:30 p.m. Monday, Bordeos had just arrived with his two sons, John Mark, 16, and Virgilio Jr., 14, at the gasoline station located at Marcos Highway, Barangay Santolan, when two of the three-motorcycle-riding men entered. One of the suspects approached one of Bordeos’ sons and used him as a guide to his office, Paulite said.

Paulite said Bordeos appeared to be waiting for a number of guests as he had ordered eight packed lunches from a fastfood store. – Non Alquitran
