Some P1 million and US $18,000 in cash were stolen from the Nigerian ambassadors house in Forbes Park in Makati City Saturday night.
Ambassador Ray O. Inje of Nigeria, residing at 10 Anahaw St., Forbes Park, filed a complaint with the Makati police and reported that the vault inside his room was cleaned of his money amounting to P1,000,016 and $18,000.
The ambassador said he discovered the theft at around 8 p.m. when he went to his room and found that the vaults door was ajar.
Probers said they are looking at an "inside job" as they saw no sign that the thieves used force in entering the ambassadors room and in opening the vault.
Police are now investigating the household staff.
Meanwhile, three unidentified men attacked a couple in Malabon City the other night, leaving the husband dead and his wife wounded.
The suspects shot dead Danilo Parani, 34, jobless, of Purok 6, Dulong Hernandez, Catmon, Malabon. His wife Gina, 32, a security guard, sustained a gunshot wound in her left leg.
Case investigator PO1 Reynaldo Gabatin of the Malabon City Station Investigation Branch (SIB) said the victims were about to go to sleep at 11 p.m. when the suspects arrived. Rainier Allan Ronda, Nikko Dizon
