Creba, NHA sign venture contract

National President Charlie Gorayeb of the Chamber of Real Estate and Builders Associations (Creba) and Edgardo Pamintuan, general manager of the National Housing Authority (NHA) will sign today a Creba-NHA joint venture agreement on socialized housing for low-income and marginal income families.

The agreement will be forged during the Creba monthly business meeting in Makati City. Pamintuan will also speak on NHA’s latest thrusts in housing development for the poor and the underprivileged sector.

Creba has been advocating the adoption of a comprehensive home financing system to produce some 500,000 socialized housing units to cope with the 3.5 million housing shortage in the country. The chamber has been discussing the features of its package of housing program reforms with housing czar Michael Defensor.

Gorayeb said Creba will call on its members to join NHA’s socialized housing projects on joint venture arrangements, particularly in areas outside Metro Manila.

Creba is holding its Cup Golf Tournament tomorrow with tee-off at 7 to 9 a.m. The proceeds are to be donated to the Reception and Study Center (Nayon ng Kabataan) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, which is caring for abandoned, abused and neglected children. Sponsoring the benefit tournament are the New Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation, Kawasaki Motors Philippine Corporation, Boysen Paints, Outlast Super Premium Battery, Makati Shangri-La Hotel, Lipton Ice Tea, GMA Network Inc. and the VV Soliven Group of Companies.

Nayon ng Kabataan provides a comprehensive package of social services, including home life services, counseling and psychological services, training on productivity skills, medical, health and educational services. Legal assistance is also given when necessary.
